A little bit about us…
At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, on 6th April 2020, one mum and her two daughters reached out to support their local community and spread some hope and joy by sharing their love of reading and encouraging more people to get out and walking to keep fit and healthy. They bagged up a few books they were willing to donate and left them hidden around the village for lucky passers-by to find. Thus Walsoken Walking Library was born!
Since then, the project has gone from strength to strength, with local support and a group of passionate volunteers, our books have reached destinations across the whole country, travelling as far as Scotland!
We now have over 4500 books in circulation and have collaborated with sponsors and kindly received donations in order to keep this wonderful project going from strength to strength. With special thanks for the support from Rima’s Ladies Art UK C.I.C, Wisbech Reads, Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridgeshire libraries archives, Avalon Home Improvements, Wisbech Projects CIC and Red Barn Creative without whom, this would not be possible.
Walsoken Walking Library run regular competitions to encourage reading and creativity, providing art materials and special events packs.
