Summer 2020 update: The website has been reinstated so that we can look at ways to work together online more. The Club is paused at the moment, but we are looking for new funding to bring in speakers and to make changes for distancing safely when meeting and working online.
[website under development – as part of the club, all are included in its development with discussions at each meeting]
The Penelope Club was started by Lorena Hodgson, Red Barn Creative, as a meeting place for all local women who run a business, or would like to, to get together regularly to share ideas, support each other, and learn together. The startup was supported by Destination Digital Cambridgeshire as part of a program of funding to support women in business across the county.
The Penelope Club ethos attracted mainly creative women: artists, makers, and independent shop owners with a creative steak. All women are of course welcome, and they will find a warm, friendly group willing to work together to improve all our businesses.
The Penelope Club was chosen to be featured by Destination Digital on their website and in the Chamber of Commerce Magazine. Click here to open the link.
We were proud to have been granted funding by Cambridgeshire County Council’s Reach fund to help us get exhibition boards and our own wifi for when we’re out and about. This has been used for other exhibitions too, particularly at Fun Palaces events.
